  • Length: 2 hrs, 40 minutes (ideally complete across 5 days)

Course Overview

This practical, trauma-informed paediatric first aid course is designed specifically for foster and kinship parents living real family life, not sitting in exam conditions trying to memorise endless facts.

Rather than overwhelming you with information, the course focuses on helping you stay calm, recognise urgency, think clearly under pressure, and know where to find trusted guidance quickly and safely.

Throughout the course, you’ll explore:

  • The 3 Step Response Model
  • Recognising emergencies
  • Using trusted NHS guidance
  • Medication safety and delegated authority
  • Safer caring and risk thinking
  • Trauma-informed responses during illness or injury
  • Real-life first aid situations at home and while out and about

The course also introduces trusted tools and resources, including the free British Red Cross “Baby and Child First Aid” app.

Our carers & other professionals love us

This was a great course. Having attended lots of safeguarding and safer caring courses, this was engaging, kept my interest and was a nurturing but factual way to do the course. I loved the focus on noticing subtle changes in young people and encouraging curiosity and early sharing of concerns.
